Our last post focused on the idea that, as a pest control business, you should definitely have a marketing plan. But, what if you honestly do not have the time to sit down and write even the most basic one up?
Luckily, marketing firms are out there to help you out in your time of need. They have the knowledge and the skill set to get your pest control company seen the Google search, local search, and even social media.
Now, before you get hung up on the fact that you now have to pay a company to do this, think of the return you will have with knowledgeable individuals working on your businesses marketing exposure without any interruptions that may have occurred had you tried to do it on your own. You’d trust them much more, wouldn’t you?
If you are still not convinced about parting with some money to hire a marketer to do it, here are some reasons why you may want to below:
If you are the owner, a technician or any other role in your pest control business, you are busy being a pest controller or business owner. Between controlling the pest population, working on payroll, ensuring operations are running well, or any other job you may have, you are busy.
If you do not have the skillset to do the marketing legwork yourself, then you are just taking away time from yourself having to learn and implement these ideas on your website and social media pages, if you have them.
Ultimately, time=money and if you are wasting time, then you are wasting money, so if you are going to be putting money towards marketing, you should have it be placed in the hand of a marketing professional.
If you lose $100 a day because you aren’t focused or you lose $100 because you paid your marketing professional to do the work for you, then option B will yield much better results because the money was placed to do a job instead of lost by not doing one’s job efficiently.
This is not to say with a little time and effort you could not produce a basic marketing plan and implement it, but when you hire a marketer or firm to do the work for you, you are going to receive quality work.
Marketing firms have the skills, subscriptions, and manpower to give 100% of their attention to your pest control businesses needs and work with you to get the marketing for your company exactly how you want it.
When you are doing this alone, you cannot ask someone else if what you are doing is correct, so you may never know. On the other hand, if you have a marketer do the work for you, they can come back and you can just them either a thumbs up or suggest changes–and they will know how to tweak them to make everything exactly how you want.
It may seem funny, but sometimes having someone not involved in the business is what you need for success. You have your own idea of what your company needs, and yes, there is definitely merit to it because who better to know your pest business than you? But, ultimately, you sometimes can get so wrapped up in the business end, that you may be missing something that a marketer may feel can bring in better leads.
Hiring someone out of your office gives the marketing plan a fresh look over, offers ideas not taking the business itself into account and can be a different outlook on what you may have thought was a good marketing idea, but they may offer a better or even more cost-effective way to marketing your pest control business that you may not have thought of.
Most people do not like parting with money. It’s nothing to be ashamed of and especially as a business, you need money to stay in business.
Sometimes, you need to part with it to actually make more money in return. This sounds counterintuitive, but it actually makes sense if you see it on paper.
If you make 10 leads a month just by word-of-mouth customers at $35 a lead, then you are making $350 each month. If you pay a marketer $200 to market your business and now you are making 50 leads a month, you are now making $1,750. If you subtract that $200 for the marketer, you still net $1,550 which is a little less than five times more than before you paid a marketer to do the work.
You may have put money out beforehand, but a marketer will know how to place you in front of the right audience and give you a better ROI.
Marketing plans can be anything from a written content calendar, optimizing a website, local search optimization, and social media marketing. Due to how many facets of marketing there, you want to ensure all bases that interest you are covered. This takes even the most trained marketers years to learn, so it may be best to pay a little extra for the help, but get quality work and leads back in return.
