It’s always great to be told whether or not you are doing a great job which can help you shape your business and continued growth in a positive manner. What many small businesses do not focus on is the importance of reviews.
Although it seems like one small piece of the puzzle, a review actually carries a lot of weight when comparing to other businesses. Here are some reasons why you should always ask customers for reviews of your company.
While larger corporations can make a mistake or two and brush it off, small businesses do not have that luxury and can sometimes feel like every move is being calculated by customers. Having customers give written reviews on a regular basis allows you to constantly see your strengths and weaknesses within your business and fix certain aspects of your business while also growing in areas that you are already succeeding in.
There may be some other companies local to yours who also have reviews of their business, but there will always be those that do not. It is best practice to be able to make your small business stand out and having reputable and positive reviews could be the difference. Consumers want the best bang for their buck and seeing a company who time after time offers great results will sell them more than a fancy website or office location.
The algorithm of most social media and reviewing sites such as Yelp will always place the best rated companies on top. Having your customers review you can directly affect where you sit on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook as well as review sites.
Greater exposure means more people will be able to see your business, see your reviews (both positive and negative) and provide a farther reach out to customers.
This may be a more personal approach as to why reviews are good for business, but as a small business owner you need to be able to handle both the good and bad or you won’t succeed. Some people just cannot handle criticism even if it is meant to help and without growth a small business will fail.
Allowing your customers to review your business means allowing your customers to help you as both a businessperson and human to grow. It is hard to be told what you are doing might not be liked by everyone, but it definitely allows for you to continue to build a better company with each new review.
Don’t be afraid to open yourself up to good and bad reviews as it can only help. Make sure to let customers know that you want to continue to build a better business and that their reviews are appreciated. If individuals are taking the time to let you know your strengths and weaknesses, it is important to take those reviews into consideration and adjust your business accordingly.
